Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst TS875 Skeet Range TCRA – USACE Omaha District
KGS performed a time critical removal action (TCRA) for delineation and removal of lead-impacted soils from a privately owned property located adjacent to JBMDL in Wrightstown, New Jersey. This forested parcel borders a JBMDL munitions response site (MRS) and includes a wetlands area. The project required surveying to determine the overall project and wetland extents; a vegetation inventory; E&S control installation; clearing and grubbing; lead-impacted soil delineation, removal, and off-site disposal; backfill of the entire excavated area with certified clean fill; and restoration of both uplands and wetlands areas with native plant species. KGS conducted monthly inspections of the newly planted restoration area and performed periodic watering of the newly planted vegetation to ensure survival.
KGS self-performed the excavation and backfill effort, which included removing approximately 3,500 cubic yards of material. A 98% restoration vegetation survival rate for the one-year period of monitoring was realized minimizing the number of plants/trees requiring replacement.
