KGS has over 17 years of MEC remediation experience.

KGS has over 17 years of ERS/MMRP experience performing MMRP preliminary assessments, demilitarization operations, removal actions, and remedial investigations/feasibility studies. KGS has in-house capabilities to perform full-service remediation capabilities. KGS provides munitions and explosives of concern (MEC) and MC remedial action (RA) expertise including the excavation, characterization, and off-site disposal of soil exceeding acceptable levels.  Work experience includes removing lead-impacted soil and the disposal of ordnance and explosives. Anomalies are discovered utilizing digital geophysical mapping (DGM) (including towed arrays and man-portable units), anomaly dig sheets, RTK-GPS, and analog metal detectors.

KGS ensures that MC soil sampling is completed at the location of the disposal to verify no explosives remain in soils at the location. Material Documented as Safe (MDAS) is containerized and sent for disposal. Clean soil material is imported and backfilled into the soil excavations to restore the location to its pre-excavation condition
