Long-Term Monitoring and Management at Joint Base Cape Cod, MA – USACE New England District
KGS/Trinity performs Environmental Services at Joint Base Cape Cod (JBCC) located in Bourne, Massachusetts for USACE New England District. JBCC encompasses 22,000 acres, 15,000 acres comprise the northern training area, the major training area for Army National Guard soldiers in the Northeast, where soldiers practice maneuvering exercises and bivouacking, or camping, and use the small arms ranges.
The project includes semi-annual groundwater and surface water monitoring at 11 Operable Units (OUs) including sampling of more than 1,000 monitoring wells and performance of synoptic hydraulic monitoring events at each OU. The monitoring program includes explosives, perchlorate, PFAS, VOCs, SVOCs, metals analyses. All sampling event results including field data and validated laboratory data are maintained in the JBCC Environmental Data Management System (EDMS).
KGS/Trinity also performs other tasks including Operation and Maintenance (O&M) and repair of 13 groundwater extraction and treatment systems for perchlorate and explosives removal, performance monitoring and reporting, monitoring well network maintenance, brush/vegetation removal, access road maintenance/repair, and equipment maintenance/calibration.
