KGS SERES JV, a joint venture comprising KOMAN Government Solutions, LLC (KGS) and SERES Engineering & Services, LLC (SERES), has extensive experience in managing and executing projects in support of the Military Munition Response Program (MMRP). As a JV partner, KGS provides full-time on-site support for a variety of munitions identification and disposal activities at designated range grids at Fort Irwin.
KGS’ technicians perform surface and limited subsurface operations to locate, identify, mark, and report Munitions and Explosives of Concern (MEC) for disposal by military Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) personnel. KGS’ technicians remove Munitions Debris (MD) 6-inches and larger from assigned grids and manage all aspects required to inspect and certify Material Potentially Presenting an Explosive Hazard (MPPEH) as either Material Documented as Explosive Hazard (MDEH), or as Material Documented as Safe (MDAS). The team oversees all MDAS disposal activities from initial certification, through final disposition to include flashing of MDAS material. KGS’ technicians also provide MEC support to Hands Across the Desert (HAD), Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) construction support, and UXO avoidance support when needed. The team conducts periodic geophysical surveys and provides excavation equipment/personnel to locate and excavate buried Mark 80 series bombs or similar type munitions such as Guided Bomb Units (GBU
